A look into our future distribution and label artist signings….

Since 2023, the label has taken a new direction, with representing only professional, seasoned, artists on our official Label Roster.  If you are an established, professional musician in search of a folk genre label, send demo-submission. See FAQ for submission criteria.

Distribution services will still be still available for ‘up and coming’ and unestablished artists in 2023 and beyond, but on a limited basis. Newcomers to the label and folk scene will receive a 6-month trial contract for distribution of one Single track.  Based on the success of the track and the working relationship, this could lead to being signed to the label roster.

A glimpse into past label roster…..

During the early years of Friendly Folk Records label (2017-2022) we opened our doors to artists of all levels of development, many of which were only focused on performing live. Although we began with booking and management services in 2015 under the original business of My Music Matters Management, and continued with actively introducing our artists to festivals in the Netherlands until 2022, we no longer offer management and booking services. We are an independent record label that offers cd production, pressing, distribution and promotion. Naturally, all of our Artists’ names are introduced to festivals, radio show hosts, and media contacts in folk scene. However, it became too often the case, that after introductions to our folk contacts, many unestablished acts moved on, because it was only live performances and booking that they were interested in, rather than focusing on our label services.  We have learned and grown a lot as a label since 2017.  We are very proud to represent our current lineup, including several acts that have been with Friendly Folk Records since the start up. Experience and wisdom was gained with each Artist who was part of our label briefly, and those who have continued with us for many years with multiple releases.

ARCHIVE ARTISTS:

Artists leave labels for many reasons, most often because musicians stop recording music; or because of a band line-up change; or because they had different expectations of what a label’s function was; or they had an unrealistic perception of fame and fortune; or simply because the bands dissolved and moved on. Some of our previous label Artists were promotion services clients with our promotion company, My Music Matters Management Triad (2014-2017), prior to the label upstart, and were automatically added to Friendly Folk Records, which for some turned out to not be a good fit as they weren’t yet ready for a label.
