News Update: Drusuna on hiatus until Winter/2020

Perhaps you have noticed that it has been a bit silent regarding shows and news updates for Drusuna – Pagan Ritual Folk, our friends from Portugal. We have recently been informed that Sephirus is scheduled for another back surgery. Sephirus is a very humble, private man, but also our brave Pagan warrior. Please join us in sending healing thoughts to Sephirus, and moral support to his family during this time. In the Pagan belief system, collective thoughts of warm wishes always bring positive results. Blessed be.

Although we had originally planned to keep this news out of the media spotlight, after discussion with Sephirus, we agreed it was time to go public. To minimalize questions, we can share with you the following details. Frontman and mastermind of Drusuna, Sephirus Oakborn, has been suffering with severe back pain after a fall down stairs early last year. In late Spring/2019 the inevitable was decided, back surgery. The operation helped relieve the pain, but there were some post-recovery complications.

Sephirus was under doctor’s orders for complete bedrest, but that didn’t stop him from honoring his commitment to perform at Castlefest in Lisse, Netherlands (Summer/2019). The backstage crew were very helpful in allowing us to have a mat set up for Sephirus to lie down and rest between sets. The artist was grateful to have fulfilled his dream of performing at Castlefest. Sadly, this was the last performance of Drusuna for 2019 season.

After returning to Portugal, Sephirus began putting together his new album, which required finding a new lineup of musicians and instruments for this special Pagan project. During the beginning recording phase, lightening struck again. We were saddened to hear that Sephirus’ condition has worsened and our dear friend must have another operation on his back.

We have received requests from several festivals for the return of Drusuna to the Netherlands. On behalf of Drusuna, we publically thank you for your understanding of why we had to decline your offers. We do hope that Drusuna will stay in your hearts and on your list for Winter/2020 and beyond. For now, we only want Sephirus to concentrate on healing.
