The Jolly Gents debut single is the popular Scottish folk traditional ballad, The Trees They Grow So High. The delicate balance of instruments combined with angelic vocals will set this rendition apart from the rest. Of the many versions of this Scottish traditional, The Jolly Gents were most inspired by the composition of Benjamin Britten. ‘The Trees They Grow So High’ is a song about an arranged child marriage. The roots date back to 18th century oral storytelling traditions in Scotland, England and Ireland. The Jolly Gents are an uptempo folk duo from the Netherlands with Sjoerd van Ravenzwaaij (banjo) and Tom van Aarle (accordion). They are joined on this release by guest vocalist, Tineke Rosebloom.
